Auto K-swap discussion

most important question is why? it is surely possible with enough money anything is possible. you would have to use harnesses, ecu and repin for various different wires and harness locations, plus shifter and speed sensors. i dont know that its worth it honestly
So you want a legitimate resaon? Ill give you 3 words. Manual Valve Body. This is actually something i have really considered in latst build. Now why would i want to? Simple Consistency! Its a lot easier to be consistent when you take a clutch out of the equation in drag racing. And with K-pro's new Automatic adapter harness this would be a lot easier to actually do. The only down fall.. How strong is a honda automatic tranny?

and in all fairness theres a guy whos trying to put a Pontac Grand Prix auto tranny with manual valve body in his k-swap.

a problem you might have is that due to transmission losses, you're only going to end up with a little more power than a d17 n/a build for alot more money. d17 n/a can probably get 140whp, maybe? a k20a3 makes 160hp at the crank so with auto trans losses, you're looking at a considerable amount less. there's really not much difference especially when comparing the headaches you'll go through to get a k20 auto working.
Power ranges will still be different. So you are not just trading power for pwer you changing power ranges. Not to mention tune-a-bility

I want to comment but theres too man retards in here who think that an auto is a bad idea. When in fact its a good idea. Not everyone in the world wants to drive a manual. Hell if i would have had the balls when i did my k20a swap i would have put a auto in it just because it was for dragging. Its a hell of a lot easier to launch with, shift and stay consistant... and not to mention during dd, i could just drive like i wanted to and relax. Sometimes driving a stick feels like work to me.

SO honestly if you arent trying to help and post in this thread you shouldnt be posting at all.. if you arent going to say something like hey the easiest way to go about this would be: or hey how about you try this instead. and quit blah blah blahing about a d17 being cheaper to mod cause you cant afford to do this yourself.

The shell of this topic:
Can it be done: Yes
Has it been done: Unknown
Would you do it: Yes
Why or why not: ?
What pointers would you have: Just that hondata has an adapter for this that will allow you to tune the motor and then you can fine tune your tranny yourself.
Pros: Consistant shifts, no need to worry about burning up a clutch, makes life a litte easier
Cons: How strong is the tranny? How much would it be to upgrade it? Will axles work? etc
etc:

Thats all thats really needed.
