If you have a quick/noob question related to a suspension post here

Ok I think we need a thread like this instead of having ppl post worthless threads that require one post answers.
ie. Will springs from an ex fit my lx?

If you have a question which will require more member input please make a thread.

We have needed one of these for a long time! This will be my new favorite thread. Hopefully there will be some good questions with some good answers!
Alright, just to clear up confusion and everyone giving me different answers..

I have an 2001 Civic LX, will springs from a 03-05 fit them? The ones I have are 55mm and I know my stock ones are 50mm. I've heard it doesn't matter unless I have konis, since I have the whole assembly, and I can just drill the crash bolt bigger?
ok what is a good safe height to lower my car? i dont want to have to worry bout speed bumps

Stock height. But seriously probably no more than an inch and a half.
You could easily do 2" an not worry about speed bumps.
any lower than 2 and ur grinding

yes the springs are interchangeable between 01-05 lx, ex, dx, vp. strut housing diameter only matters when installing koni inserts. if your putting 03-05 onto an 01, the holes on the strut assembly (from 03-05) are (99% of the time) already larger than the knuckle's hole on your 01. there for, the struts you want to install use a larger crash bolt than can fit into your knuckle
Ah.. So they will work then? So what exactly do I do about the crash bolt? Or simply put, what can I do to make them work? Your last statement kind of threw me off a bit, sorry.
So are there any shocks that will work with the GC's that are comparable to (or better) than the Koni Yellows but they dont have to be inserted into the OEM shock tube? Just looks like a bunch of extra work I don't really want to mess with if I can avoid it.
People also put on the Tockico D-spec with GC with good results.
i wanna lower my civic. but i was wanting to do air ride so i can bring it up for everyday use and still have a slammed look at shows. but wen my friend did that his bags blew out every few months. then i heard about tein making some racing shocks that can be ajusted up to 3 inchs up or down. and still can be ajusted from inside the car with a ride hight ajuster.

should i got that rout with the teins. or just do drop coils. idk and need some info. i been searching but cant seem to get a clear answer. :dunno:

or is there some other better way and safer way to do this

I believe you're thinking of Tein's EDFC, Electronic Dampening Force Controller. That changes the dampers, not the ride height. I can't imagine an effective way to adjust spring ride height while loaded.
probly im not sure thats why i been trying to get some info
I don't think you'll find any. From an engineering perspective, I don't see how it's possible to have a sprung suspension that's remotely adjustable, while remaining the same general size and weight as the stock system.
What about them? Adjustable ride height?

if you have an 01 and you buy 03-05 struts it not possible to get them to fit because you have 14mm knuckles and the struts are 16mm. You cannot drill out your knuckles

i have heard of some people getting the 03-05 struts to fit on 01-02 cars but im not sure what they did, maybe some sort of sleeve
yeah they are adjustable but they fit and rsx. do if i tweeked them around abit would they fit a 03 civic or would that be way to much and just say fuck it
They're no more adjustable than any other coilover. Not sure what you're getting at.
