Hey guys, Just picked up this project car. It's a 96 Ek Hatch with a B18b in it. It needs a bit of work to be road worthy and a bunch of work to get it where I want it. This is going to be long term project as funds are tight right now as I'm getting married in less then 2 months. I have a lot of ideas but I'm more then willing to accept suggestions. Well on to the pics sorry they were taken with a phone camera.

^^what he said, that header looks like someone took a dump on it after eating del taco and it also looks like part are your transmission is in your back seat, :bowrofl: lmao no jk but you do have your work cut out for you, i never really like the ek's im more of an eg hatch type, all because of the tail lights, back side is everything to me. :coffee:

sorry to double post but does this thing have a 99-00 head light conversion? or was it just in an accident?

Yea I know that's why it's my long term project. I picked it up for $900 including the skunk2 intake mani, an extra front subframe, and a bunch of other odds and ends. B18 motor in the car works mint though. Thanks for the link, definitely inspiring.

Hahaha I totally agree. What you see in the back seat is the front subframe off an Integra with rack still attached, a front sway bar, and some axles with spindles. To answer your second question this car had an Acura EL front end on it but the guy sold it and put the civic front end back on only he didn't have a bumper so he picked up a 99-00 front bumper and put it on. Not sure if I'll do the full 99-00 conversion or swap it back to the EL front.

drop a k24a2 in there and you will be the happiest person ever
I was thinking about it, but I don't know if I want to go that far with it yet. I think I'm just going to clean up the B18 and add a few things to it. It's got enought power for me lol

Nice project. But that header looks rough. But I'm sure you'll get all that taken care of.
Thanks. Yea eventually I'll probably go with an aftermarket header or just get this one sandblasted and powdercoated.

NICE, i hope your going to drop a k series in it.
Thanks. I don't think I'll be dropping a K series into this beast. As much fun as it would be I don't think I want to go that deep into engine stuff

Hahah you guys make a valid point. I don't know what I'm going to do with the car once it's finished(i.e. sunny day car, track car, DD, etc..) so when I figure that out I'll see if the swap is really worth my time and money lol. I think I'm going to do interior and exterior first, then I need to tackle suspension and probably put some new shoes on it. Then I'll think about what to do with the engine.

Kind of forgot about this build thread. I pulled the interior out of the hatch this summer and cleaned the crap out of the carpet and put rockguard on the floor. I put the carpet and front seats back in but I need to change the seat belts in the rear so I couldn't rockguard the rear floor just yet.

But now plans have changed. I'm planning on joining the Air Force so I won't have a lot of time to finish it up and I don't want to let it sit out half done so picked up an Acura 1.6EL for parts to get things moving a little quicker.

I'm going to pull the B18 out and swap in the D16Y8(vtaaaak lol)I'm also putting the EL front clip on(Just took it off the EL today), EL sideskirts(same as EK I do believe, I picked up a 6000K HID kit for it, and I swapped the gauge cluster over the the hatchback today as well.

Hoping to get the front end onto the hatchback tomorrow evening and maybe get the interior mostly completed.

So I got some more work done tonight.

Took the old front end off

Put the new bumper support on

With the fenders, lights, and bumper on

Finished product at least for now.

I'm going to pull it apart again some other time and install my 6000k HIDs and to extend the wiring for the bumper lights. I might do some interior work tomorrow night depending on how I'm feeling.

first time i've ever seen this done....looks awesome honestly.
Thanks. I love the more agressive look of the EL front end and I prefer a hatchback over a sedan so now I have the best of both worlds lol

^^ Really?! Every second ek hatch around here has an el front end on it! looks way better than the civic front end!

Nice work Ray, i would of been over to help if it wasnt the old mans birthday, give me a shout next time!
Yea man no worries. I'll get you over sometime soon.
