Hey ya'll, a couple of years ago I decided I'm going to go K swap turbo instead of d17 turbo. I know there's alot of these thread out there but I'm making this for myself and for whenever I need help or run into some trouble I can try to provide others with info.

Here's my list on no particular order:

I know I forgot somethings but I can't put my finger on it or them... As of right now I don't have anything except the PNF ECU for kpro, might have some other things once i clean out my garage. This build is going to be one of the slows ones anyone has ever seen since my wife is pregnant, on bedrest and may not go back to work until after 6 weeks after the baby is born. She may end up having a pre-term labor but only a couple more weeks until the baby is considered full term, so I'm praying. They are my number one concern and making sure that they have a roof over their head and taken care of is taking the build money away. But the plan will be slow and steady always wins...lol. I'll post some updated pix of my car this weekend after a wash and will continue to update this thread with any little thing that happens. Thanks for looking and sorry to disappoint you if you thought that the build was in full swing...

Once my wife goes back to work I'll be going to pick up the k24a4 motor, then disassembling it and seeing how the components are.
Still debating whether or not if i'm going to go ahead and swap the motor in while i gather more parts or leave it up on an engine stand.
we'll see....

Well I'm not gonna be able to get the motors til i have another day off during the week... today I picked up the subframe, intermediate shaft and the EPS rack and pinion, and waiting til the BCU for the EPS arrives. I just need the EPS Sub-wire and that's good to go.

Just bought some used DSS Level 0 axles for the time being so that when I get all the parts that I need I can swap in the motor until I get the second one finished and prepped for the turbo...still a long way to go but finding great deals on parts!!! Also going to buy a k20a2 starter and alternator tomorrow. Hasport Conversion engine harness also bought... will have some pix up once I receive the stuff and clean them up a bit! Thanks for looking...

I just picked up the K20a2 starter and alternator. The DSS Level 0 Axles and Hasport Conversion Engine Harness should be here Tuesday... Updated the lists above. I think I may go with the IPS T1 cams and Eibach EVS and Ti Retainers... we'll see when I get the K20a2 head... just need to save up some money and get a day off so I can go get the K24a1 motor...

Well, just got some possible bad news. My wife's job might end up going away this Friday and will hurt us really bad financially! So the build is on hold and won't be buying any parts right now. We'll find out this Friday what happens and what happens with the build. Hopefully this go good and I can continue next week... was just about to buy a lot of parts from TransformedBG....

Well it's happened.... I FINALLY GOT MY K24A1!!!!! Will post some pix once I got it up on the engine stand and start to clean it up and replace parts prior to dropping it in.. I still have to buy a few things.... big things like a tranny, the motor mounts to name a few.

Well I just traveled to Charlotte yesterday to pick up my K20a2 transmission and bought my Kpro, O2 sensor, and AC compressor. I also bought a shop crane so I can get this engine up on this stand and also into my car later on down the road when I'm ready to drop it in.... more to follow :coffee:

Well, messed with the engine for an hour or two and took a few parts off but nothing major. Tomorrow I'll be draining the oil and possibly taking off the oil pan and putting the k20a2 oil pan with oil pump and required components on but definitely will be cleaning her up... she's dirty!!!

Well I haven't been doing much as of lately because my wife just started school and I'm low on my car funds right now so I'm replenishing it... In the mean while I'm slowly cleaning the engine and then will be trying to polish the RBC manifold and possibly a few other things depending on how well the manifold turns out. But my wife got me an AWESOME father's day gift.... NIKON D5100 DSLR !!!!!!!!!!! Here are 2 pix that I took with it.... Still got to learn with it.

Very small update... I should have continued cleaning up my engine some more but instead I clean up the RBC some. Where the cut/mod was to be in order to fit to the K20 head....On to the pix

Thanks, I appreciate it!

You don't need the throttle cable. Stock D17 one works just fine.
SWEET!!! Now that money can go to something else...

Also, I have an update on my wife's situation... she's able to go back to work but I've still decided to put to the build on hold until the baby is born and we are settled with the new born. I've updated the first post with Clint's help with the throttle cable. With that said I still may get small parts here and there depending on the price....Thanks for looking....

Question, Axle shaft? same thing as intermediate shaft?

Thanks Bryan. I'll look into them. I understand what you mean but I've really wanted a K for a while even before I thought about boosting the D so it was a long time coming... I think I'll still have the pistons for you whenever you are ready since no one has been even asking about them. Thanks again!

Man, I can't believe I missed this post.... What motor are you talking about DJ?


Well guys, I've been on K20.org and have decided to do EPS (Electronic Power Steering) from the EP3... I'm probably gonna pick up some of the parts or hopefully all of the parts that I need soon, maybe this weekend. I won't be putting it in until I actually start the swap but I'll be getting it either the first or second week of March....

Lol... ya can't believe u missed it too! But I was talkin about my d17. I finished bulding it now. New engine is in and awesome. But lemme know if u need a hand with anything bro!
I'll let you know and I'm sure the more hands the faster it'll go...lol.

Is this still on hold on account of your kid? Or have you started accumulating parts?

Boosted K24...this will be nice. Have you thought about a Rotrex SC rather than turbo?

It's kinda on hold but then again it isn't... I'm going to hopefully be able to get out to some of these junk yards and get some parts hopefully this week :x: but I'm definitely putting my daughter first before parts but I do have separate accounts for both... about $200 dollars going to both a month. so hopefully it won't take too too long to at least get the parts collecting going. I'm definitely going to be doing a force induction and i've thought about the Rotrex SC but haven't done my homework on it as of yet. Definitely when the time comes that I'm ready to purchase either I'll have done my homework on both SCers and turbo's and will pick the one that suit's my build. Thank for the good luck and same to you... you're and inspiration for me and so are some others from k20a.org that are also from here....

Take your time and do it right the first time so you dont kick yourself is the ass for not doing it the way you want to!
Yea I hear ya on doing it right the first time and definitely will be taking my time so that I get it right... Break in period on all parts hopefully not "Breaking period" before I even go to the dyno (when that time comes).

at least you have a valid excuse for lack of updates. i'm blaming mine on the cold and school :queer:
LOL... Get a space heater...lol Naw but I may be calling you sometime if you're free to help me go to a few places and pick up some parts if they can't fit in my parents Rodeo.

Thanks guys... I started getting this clanking sound from my passenger side front wheel. it only happens when i'm turning left and occassionally when i'm going str8 but kinda steering left. anybody know what it could be?? i'm gonna go to the auto shop on base and see if they can assess the problem and then get it fixed. tomorrow i'm hoping to go to Fuquay-Varina for some parts. and then hopefully Goldsboro saturday if my wife lets me and if the shop is open.... I really want to make sure this clanking sound is nothing major. I want to make sure that my car is fine until I swap which could be still a couple of months from now since I'm just collecting parts.

Thanks bro! I'll be needing to get that fixed! hopefully tomorrow or the Saturday. I really don't want to wait on this... sucks that I gotta spend a few bucks that I can use to buy some axles for my swap but I gotta look out for my family's safety along with mine!

Special thanks to Clint!! He came by yesterday and practically put the axle in while I just watched grabbed shyt he needed and helped where I could...but after watching I can do it myself now! So thanks Clint for getting my car safe again for my newborn and teaching me how to replace an axle in less than 2 hours!! Now to start finding parts that I can get at the moment.....
