Hey,
so heres how it pans out. I have an 01 CIVIC SI with aftermarket H1 headlights in them. these headlights have two bulbs. one slot is for Hi/Lo beams and the other is the projector night time driving light. These lights are plug and play and worked perfect until i decided i wanted HIDs in the projector (like my fog lights)
Basically i wired them up not knowing i need a special digital relay wiring harness and what i got what a buzzing ballast and a flickering HID light. so i thought maybe it wasnt getting enough power. I continued on wiring it up to different parts of the stock wiring harness trying to figure out what the problem was. so.....
Before i frigged with it i had day time driving lights/high beams on one light then when i turned my switch all the way on i have just my projection lights.
After i frigged with it...
i have my normal daytime driving lights however when i turn my lights all the way on only the projectors should be on but i have both day time driving lights on and only can get full power from the left side projector. On the right side i have a dim daytime driving light and a really dim projector light. Throughout this the right side was the only side i had apart to try to get my HIDs to work. I discouvered though that if i disconnect the ground to one of my lo beam lights then when i turn my projectors on only the left side turnes on full power and i get nothing on the right side projector even though its wired correctly.
To continue the problem the ballast for my FOG LIGHT HIDs stopped working on the same side (right side) that i was testing the HEAD LIGHT HIDS. although that could be a totally different matter and just died on me, im not sure.
TO sum it all up i have my low beams on all the time except when i start the car with the e brake on (due to DRL). and when i put my high beams on.
(left side)- full high beam perfectly normal
(right side)- still have a dim projector and a dim lo beam.
I read about the DRL module and relay that are located behind the glove box on the passengers side and the actual module that is under the steering wheel. NOTHING IS BUZZING. My drl module seems to be doing its job i looked it over it looks fine no bad solder that i can see, no black burning or anything of the sort. also i believe that my DRL relay is funtioning properly but im not 100% positive. I thought the relays in my fuse pannel under the hood might be the problem however i switched (left to right and right to left [same part number] ) them and still have the same problems. ive checked my grounds and the 2 fuses both under the hood and under the steering wheel.
I CANNOT FOR THE SAKE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS?!?!?! IF YOU CAN HELP OR IF YOU HAVE A DIAGRAM OF ALL THE HEADLIGHT WIRING I WOULD APPRICIATE IT BIG TIME. I TALKED TO A MECHANIC AND HE STILL THINKS ITS THE DRL MODULE WEATHER OR NOT THERE IS BAD SOLDER. ID JUST LIKE TO GET SOME IMPUT BEFORE I GO SPEND $150 ON A NEW MODULE.
