I'm driving a 05 Civic EX Coupe SE w/AUTO, got it in May as a certified vehicle. I'm not sure if its covered in the warranty, I'll check with a local dealer but figured I'll ask anyways. Description of problem:
-Can lock from outside of car when off with key or keyless entry.
-Cannot lock it when car turned off with either the lock button on inside or pushing it by hand, the lock goes down then pops back halfway up.
-Locks if button pushed or done manually from inside if car is on.
this is a safety feature, hold the door handle out, and press hte lock button while holding the inner door hanlde out, and hte door will lock, it keeps u from locking ur keys in the car
1. its a safety feature, to keep from locking keys inside vehicle
2. follow this
door open
hold door handle on inside of door panel open, like when you open ur door from inside, ot get out
simultaneously, press electric lock down, locking the doors(keys outside of vehicle)
doors lock
wont work with key in igniton
3. if this doesnt work for u, either ur an idiot, or u have a broken lock actuator, but since it works when doors are closed, from inside, if it doesnt work, ur and idiot
1. Stop car and put in park or whatever...
2. Remove key from ignition.
3. Open door
4. Get your butt out of car
5. Now from the inside of car, hold the handle out and lock the door with the switch at the same time. After locked release the handle.
6. Close the door.
7. Realize you locked your keys in the car
8. Get pissed that it worked and your keys are inside
9. Post question on how to break into your car.
10. We all point and laugh...:th_Thats-Funneh:
There is a handle that you pull to get out of your car.
Pull that handle.
Keep the handle pulled out.
Press autolock or manual lock.
The door will lock with the handle pulled.
Once it is locked, release the handle and close the door.
Before bashing me and calling me an idiot, did you read my second post? Heres a repeat: "It does it when key is not in ignition as well." I did try what you said when key is in ignition and yes it works. But as mentioned cannot lock door when key is NOT in ignition using the lock button or pushing it manually unless I do that procedure. Another question, do the locks lock and unlock when you put it in drive and park? My old Buick did that, I don't think the Civic does it, or could be a malfunction?
no, no auto lock on civics. and if u have a coupe, u cannot manually lock the doors, ie, pushing the button down, the only way to lock the doors is to use the electronic lock button, if u have it
you can manually lock the Door on a coupe. When I first got my car it had no remote so i either held the outside door handle and pushed the lock down with my finger, or I used the key and locked it from the outside.
Then we found a remote on the ground at a park. lol.
:domo:My car wont lock when I press the keyless entry sometimes...you know when you click it the first time and your lights blink and on the second time it beeps, well it just keeps blinking without beepin...it pisses me off.....arrrrrrrrggggg
Why are American built Civic's so wack. Us cannucks don't have any of these garbage problems, at least my car doesn't. I almost wish it came with this feature though, maybe it does.
lol I had this happen today I lost my keyless entry and sure enough... I had to manualy lock it I am just like god damnit my locks broke... nope lol I remembered reading this thread
