Hey everyone, new to the site.. hoping everyone will donate their 2 cents on this.

I really want to buy rims but i'm also on a very low budget. After seeing Steve's (banzaisteve?) car, i was all hyped to get rims! So i ask my friend what he thought, and he goes "go with the real shit, don't go rota" :police:.

Work Emotion CR-Kai = 1,200
Rota Torques = $500 (?)
Sportmax 039

they all have the same style, and i love them all. so the question is does brand really matter and will i have to suffer going to the meets and getting clowned on for not havin "baller rims". :laughat:

well of course theres gunna be a difference in the structural integrity (quality) but cheap affordable rims are in abundance and theyre knockoffs so you can get the look for a fraction of the cost. besides alot of kids dont take care of their rims and curb them..

but like i said, real deals are sweet but not everyone can spare a few grand for wheels

it's all up to you man. i originally wanted the rota torques in bronze, but i had to consider buying the rims, tires, lug nuts, mount/balance and all that stuff, all seperately. so money will add up. they only had it in 16's too, so i went for the sportmax 039 all packaged, wrapped in falken ziex 912 205/45/17 for $890. it was already mounted/balance and lug nuts included, so all you had to do was put it on. overall, im happy with the rims, but i recently curbed one side and fucked up 2 of my rims going through a car wash. its not that bad, it was bound to happen anyways. im planning to fix it somehow, or maybe buy new rims? :smiley-rofl:. i just took it off today, for winter.

here's some visual aid...

haha, damn car wash!...im still not over that. got it from edgeracing.com. the quailty of the rims arent bad at all. ive hit couple of pot holes accidently, and it's still holding up...its not bent or cracked. as long as you take care of it, you'll be fine.

I have Tenzo rims.. maybe not so JDM.. but whatever.
I like them, EM2s arent even JDM so it doesn't matter. People at meets will only look down upon you if you make a poor decision in style, like maybe spinners on your car... but I'm pretty sure people won't judge you because of the brand of your rims... I mean I drive around with type R emblems....

If you can afford them, I would go with the works for sure. Rotas are nice though :p. I want to step my game up and get rid of the knock off rims though .

well put it this way, i fell in an open man hole cover and cracked one of rims in half. now im glad i got a no name rim (ADR is known but not Rays) cause it only cost me 100 bucks for a new rim. where as if i had Rays or Werks i would flip a shit cause it would be like another 400 bucks for a rim. So if these are gunna be your DD rims get the Rotas not the Werks
