My previous miata was tboned about a month ago. I was able to pull most of my parts off of it and purchased another Miata to swap everything onto.

I picked up a '94 R-package. The car has a few small dents, a bent fender, faded paint, and the AC is good for droping ambient temps by at least 3 degrees. I feel like I paid way too much for it but there just wasn't much selection locally, I was going nuts with no car, and I really liked the R-package options: torsen LSD, no ABS, power NOTHING (steering, windows, locks, etc), and came with a hardtop. I picked it up bone stock, aside from having the muffler cut off, with 98,676 miles on it, for $4400.

First picture after I got it home:

The plans for this one is to get it turbo'd on the stock motor and run ~10psi, which should be good for a little over 200whp. Then build a motor for it and eventually push it toward 400whp. Right now I'm just going through the process of swapping parts getting ready for the turbo, hopefully it'll be on in the next few weeks.

What about a V8 swap? I saw one on a show with a 302 V8 that made 403HP and 390 foot pounds of torque on the dyno. There is a kit from a place called MonsterMiata that will allow you to put a V8 into a Miata like yours.

I looked into it before I built my first one. It's definitely an awesome option for crazy power, but there was just way too much fabrication and wiring for me to be comfortable with. The stock motors aren't anything special, but they're cheap and hold up well to boost. Plus I've got an entire bedroom full of turbo parts off my other car.

Thanks for the kind remarks, definitely get a little crap for driving a miata, but it just makes it that much more rewarding when you walk all over a guy that just finished talking crap about how gay your car is.

After getting the car home I gave it a good wash and wax. The paint came back better than I was expecting, except for the hardtop which is still faded to crap (it's hard to tell in the pictures, the car is very photogenic, doesn't look nearly as clean in person).

Next step was to install my BC coilovers, Racing Beat swaybars, and 10AE front shock brace, and get the windows tinted.

After I was happy with the looks and handling I moved toward the drivetrain. I swapped in 6 speed, ACT streetlite flywheel, ACT xtreme pressure place, and performance disk. This was paired with a 3.90 LSD rearend.

Also ordered 2 new RPF1's and Kumho XS tires to replace the 2 killed in the crash. (Before someone comments, yeah my grass always needs to be mowed)

I went with a Megasquirt standalone and did some quick tuning to make sure everything was sorted out. The car was running great, I took a couple datalogs and ran them through virtual dyno software to get some HP estimates.

First run was done with the headlights up, second run with the headlights down. I thought it was pretty interesting to see how much the extra drag affected the car.

Still a lot to do, but inching closer to getting the turbo in. Hopefully it'll be on in a couple weeks.
