I have recently purchased a 2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition Sedan. I've always drove SUV's and trucks so this would be my first smaller car. I got this car because I was looking for practicality (4 doors - easier access to my back seat that will be housing all my books and back pack for college) and fuel efficiency (<20 mpg was killing me).
I've been very interested in learning about the electrical components of the Civic since I never really had a chance to mess around with my other passed vehicles. I will definitely be utilizing the search button for wire diagrams, DIY LEDs, etc. Any who... hello and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone* *Obviously not everyone, but it sounds nicer than saying, "those who give a sh!t to reply." =] That is all.

Welcome. What plans do you have in mind? What are you going to school for?

I will be attending Pacific University to finish my undergrad in Chemistry. I'm hoping to apply for the Pharmacy program there in a year or two.
As for the car: -Rigging courtesy lights on the bottom of the doors to turn on when they open (I know how to remove the interior panel... but I have very little experiences with the wire side of the operation) -Rigging a cup holder LED that turns on by a rocker toggle & dome lights/door triggers (again, not quite sure with the electrical part of the plan, but I know how to take it all apart) -The easier stuff like: *Changing to blue SMD bulb of the shifter indicator *Changing to blue SMD bulb of the dash (the heater/fan/ac dials & buttons on center console) *Changing the odometer to blue light *Changing front dome light/map light to white SMD *Changing back dome light to blue SMD *Changing trunk/cargo light to white SMD *Changing reverse bulb to white SMD *Changing side light bulbs to white SMDS The easier stuff I got down, no problem. If someone can help me with the electric side, it'd be truly appreciated! I know the basics.. ish. I know how to tap wires... I guess I'm just more concerned with knowing which wires are what.

Hello ricechain... I understand the general idea of what to do for the lights... it's the specifics of how to do it. As in what wires to tap into. I cannot find a specific enough diagram (colors/locations) to know exactly what wires to tap. I understand the ground wire [i don't even know what that means] (negative wire?) is black... but which ones are the 12v, dome light, door trigger, etc wires?
This girl is a HUGE newcomer to the electronics of cars. I can do other junk like brakes, oil, tune up, maintenance, and all the physical stuff... but my knowledge of the electronics are minimal. All I know is this: Copper wire, positive. Silver wire, negative. That's the extent. haha The physical aspect of how to tap a wire I understand. But knowing which wires are which is my disadvantage. =/

iv never tapped into my dome but heres what id do. If you dont have a light tester get one becouse there a huge help with car electronics, take that tester, ground it then poke into the wires on the dome light, when the light blinks its your "positive" or red wire and the other one well be your "ground" or black wire. Then just run your wires up to the dome and splice in. Also it helps having some medium sized tie wire to help run your wires from the door thru the wire grommet going into the interior.

Hmm... if I find out which wires that are connected to my dome light, I could just splice into the wires that are near the fuse box right?
