So I bought a Pioneer AVH-X2500BT double din stereo and a back up camera as well. My question is how to wire the back up camera.
So this is what I did: I wired the yellow rca plug from the rear camera to the front and plugged it into the backup camera input on the stereo. Then I spliced the black and red wires to the black and green wires off my reverse light in the trunk. Black-Black and Red-Green. I didn't connect the purple plug on the back of the stereo to anything. The camera didn't work. After researching and finding different answers, I have come up with this: I need to splice the purple wire to my reverse light wires as well for the camera to work. Is this my solution? If anyone knows how to correctly hook up a back up camera please input, thanks.

Yes, the wire needs to be hooked up because that's what tells the deck to switch to the rear-cam input. Without it, it's like having your iPod plugged in while listening to a CD. The device is powered, but not selected.
