Default Problem with trunk/gas lever

Hey everyone!
I just bought an 05 Civic, and I seem to have broken something
I'm not really familiar with the car yet, so I was hoping you guys could help me out as a new 7th gen civic owner.

I pulled the lever to release the trunk lid, and it opened the trunk, but the trunk won't close/lock, and the gas lid won't open. I took the trim off around the drivers seat and took a picture of the problem. I'm not sure if the cable broke or there's something else missing.
It sucks that I can't open the gas lid, I literally just got the car, and am so excited to fill the tank up and drive it!

Here is a picture of under the lever by the drivers seat

Please help! Thanks guys!

Common problem on 7thgen civic chassis

http://www.fueldoorfix.com/

edit

the cable looks unfixable, you gotta replace it
to open the fuel door just look on that website

to close the trunk move the wire a spot or two on the lock be hide the trunk and just use your key to open it from now on.

Same thing happened to mine. Fuel door only opened if I QUICKLY pulled the level which also popped the trunk. Any other motion of the lever (pulling it slowly or regularly) did nothing but pop the trunk. Played with it a lil, so now both the trunk and fuel door opens when i pull the lever. I know I need a new cable but its not a big deal. As long as I can get gas its fine with me.

I noticed on my 2010 that they had changed the crimp for the cable to a brass material.

Pretty sure all 01-05 have the old style and are prone to breaking.
