So as most of you probably know already,
Starting January 1, 2013, the new test will scan your car’s computer to see if your vehicle meets emissions standards. So here is the scoop at my place of work we hooked up the new machine it comes equiped with camera that feed live to the ministry of the environment along with the vehicle scan that reads vin off the ecu, dtc's, and emission component readiness. So we tested the new machine out with several vehicles that are modified and results are most failed!!! Vehicle's which failed & Reason 2011 GTI with APR stg2 chip - secondary O2 bypass - no MIL light but readiness not there. 2010 GTI same issue as above 2002 Civic Ex (mine) - Evap system - failure 2003 Rsx - Kpro - Ecu Readiness failure 2004 SRT4 (mine) - AEM EMS - No communication with ECU basically any vehicle with mods that are actually worth doing will fail

so what happens if fail? What can be done for those of us that have modified cars. I'd be interested to see if my 09 cobalt will pass with stage 1 tune secondary o2 bypass catless dp. What are the laws for etest years? How many years until my cobalt needs testing? My honda is fucked. These etest laws suck. All this money and effort for less than 1% of national emissions

We were told to keep the old machine around until feb 1st. currently if the vehicle fails we still can redo it with the old machine to see if it will pass. After Feb 1st we cannot. And 98 and older cars can only be tested at certain facilities now due to not all emissions testing centers will purchase the equipment because its an additional $15,000+++ This new system is suppose to elimate alot of older cars off the road or "make sure they are enviromental friendly" (B.S)

I think you have to register your vehicle has a hotrod. Because once the vin pulls up on the computer it will fail it because improper vin. Also I've read on the handout they give us that hotrod titled vehicle's with newer engine swaps must meet the emissions requirements of the newer engine. And I think they test it with the new sniffer system not thru the obd port.

p.s the old emissions testing system has been locked out already they no longer work. We were mislead to keep it out,but we tried to scan the cards of the emissions officer and it says not registered

question for u. Can you electrically simulate a voltage signal saying the evap system is fine ie wiring in a resistor to the 5v signal to drop the voltage to an acceptable level? Car would be reading but you'd be tricking the ecu and obd2
