I have a 2003 Civic – Back in July I had CEL and was told it was a P1457 code. A few days later the CEL went off. Recently I installed a driving monitor (like Progressive’s Snap Shot device that plugs into the OBD-II port) except this one, from State Farm, sends all sorts of diagnostic information to a web site. This web site says the car is still posting a P1457. The car’s CEL is not on and has not been on for months. Is it possible to post the P1457 and not have a CEL? Does that even make sense? How would I even know about the P1457 if the CEL is not on and I did not have the device plugged in the OBD-II port?

I have verified the code(s) are current / active but the CEL is off. The CEL illuminates momentarily when starting so I know the circuit is good. Why would the CEL be off when there are curent 'problems' generating codes? Codes are P1457 and P0325. Doesn't make sense.

P1457-EVAP Control System Leakage (EVAP Canister System)
P0325-Knock Sensor Circuit Malfunction Dont know why your light is not on but those are what the codes mean.

evap code is probably an intermittent problem and probably gas cap or maybe purge valve related. wouldnt sweat it until the light comes on and stays on. Evap doesnt check itsself every time u start the car, its only checked sometimes.
