DIY: Color Matched Door Handles and Body Side Moldings

Hey Everyone,

For those of you with non-painted door handles and body side moldings, don't worry! Very easy fix to enhance your car.


If the car was black, I wouldn't care. I just find it odd.


I would recommend taping around everything before you sand with 1000 grit wet sandpaper. I made the mistake of trying without the tape and I sanded off some clear coat on the car! Once everything's prepped, go ahead and cover the rest of your car before painting.


After some adhesion promoter, go ahead and start layering the base coat.


After a few coats of SSM, looks pretty good.


Once you think the colour is good, 2 coats of clear.


Remove the newspaper.

not such a big deal on the coupes since they have no side molding

here is one idea: http://www.repaintsupply.com/cat_honda.cfm then find the taffeta white paint.

also, how hard is it to remove the door handles? I feel like it would be easier and you get get all the black better with them off the car.

Looks good. You mind taking some closer pics of it out of the direct sun light. I would like to see how well you were able to match it up.
