2004 with 306,000 and still going...for the most part.

Hey guys,
I'm a new user here but wanted to say hello and testify to Honda's durability.

I have a 2004 which I bought new in January of 2004. After 306,000 (mostly) trouble free miles I've developed a cylinder misfire in #2. I'm hoping you guys can relate to my situation and get me on the road again! I've had a few problems in the past but I have been amazed what a google search and a forum like this can do for a car that needs help!

First things that I assume you have covered, but maybe not:

• Fresh spark plugs
• Fresh/tested ignition coils
• Check compression
• Check for headgasket leak (oil in coolant, coolant in oil, visible leaking, etc.)
• Check / replace fuel injectors

These are things off the top of my head that could result in a misfire on a single cylinder. New plugs, coils, and injectors would probably make a noticeable improvement in performance if you haven't replaced them in the past 1-200k miles.

Also, is it just a check engine light, or does it run really rough?

I'm sure others on the forum will have more input.

I bought ordered mine in March 2004, (didnt have any MM 5pds on the lot) and have 183k on the clock since then, I did have to replace the tranny at about 60k (bearings trashed) but warranty covered that. Other than the tranny, no issues ever.

Good luck on the car, how much trouble shooting have you done on it?

The 5 speed versions are very reliable when maintained. We bought our black 2001 Ex coupe in 2006 with 48k miles. We sold it in 2011 with 183k miles. It made round trip drives from N.Y to FL every year, no problems and only took 4 tanks of gas each way. That's with going 80 mph most of the way.

I had to have another, so I bought a Taffeta white 2001 coupe with 203k miles. I couldn't be happier. 1 owner, lady driven. Super clean.

Welcome to the site. I'm new here as well. Have a 2002 ex with 136,000 miles. Got the car in 2004 with 43,000 miles. 9 years and still reliable and fun. With the proper maintenance these cars can go a long way.

Welcome and Congrats, I have seen a Pontiac Grand Prix with 460k still going strong and still looking nice. It can be done if you have the patience not to buy a new car!
