Default 2001 console to 2003 console (19 pics)

this is my first DIY so if anything needs to be added i will add accordingly, thanks!

the starting photo.

start by removing the old pieces from the console.

continue removing the old pieces.

remove these 2 screws that appear after removing the black plastic pieces that are near the e brake.

push the seats forward and remove the back 2 screws.

there are also 2 screws in the very front but mine werent there.

lift the old console out.

there are 5 12mm bolts holding the e brake in, remove them.

the cables can stay in the car and be reused

the original e brake assembly against the one with the armrest.

this clip has to be stretched a little bit to work with the new ebrake.

i forgot to put the bracket on that goes on the threads that are

cont.

that are showing. i did have to take it back apart and reinstall that bracket. i dont have a photo of it installed.

next, install the new center console. it will line right up without any problems.

also incase anyone is wondering, my car is a 4 door, this new center console is from a 2 door. they both fix exactly the same and all the boltholes lined up

screw these 2 bolts back into place

now these 2 bolts wont go on just yet. these are the bolts that hold the trim that holds the 12v lighter. my bracket was broken so i just put these screws in so i have them for a later time.

pop your trim on around the shifter. this is where i messed up. the auto shifter from a 2001 civic is round, where the 2003+ shifters are rectangular. so, along with the e brake assembly you will also need the shifter assembly, but i think im going to do the other DIY about using the manual shifter idea.

pop the e brake trim on, im missing this on mine, order through the dealer for 5 bucks.

this is what im referring to on the shifter. some one good with plastic could also fab something up to fix this aswell, right now im ok with it like this.

this is the final look, congrats your complete!

I believe it's 01 and 02 no arm rest. 03 04 05 have the armrest.

Ugh... I got the center console, I'm looking for the ebrake handle/bracket. Don't you have to get a new driver seat or take off the seat arm rest?

My seat doesn't have an armrest so it fit without any problems.
