3M rubbing compound?bassackwards 10-02-2008, 01:06 AM anyone had any luck with this? i used it and nothing seems to be any better. anyone? Kaiser 10-02-2008, 08:48 AM I have used this on several occasions. -After painting a fiberglass enclosure -taking out scratches then dont break the base coat -on my hood after wet sanding. Think of it as sand paper. the step after 2k grit. I use it in conjunction with 3M buffing compound. Basically apply it with a good high speed random orbital buffer. Take your time and do a small section (1-2ftX1-2ft) On my hood I had to do 2 goes of rubbing and 2 goes of buffing. Hope this helps! wickedbautista 10-02-2008, 08:50 AM I applied it by hand and gave me crappy results, then I applied it with my rotary buffer using the meguiars polishing pad and it turn out 100% better:tup: I also have tried the turtle wax compound, but I recommend this over it. Lol Think of it as sanding though. Rubbing compound takes of the top thin layer of w.e. your applying it to. tuner04civic 10-02-2008, 11:51 AM rubbing compound 3m brand plus power buffer works well. helps me remove oxidation before. also nice finish. Derwood 10-04-2008, 07:12 PM I like this stuff. I've used it to finish off a handful of projects automotive and otherwise- but I made the same mistake, tried doing it by hand first, then convinced the wife to let me get an orbital and haven't looked back since. skatejosh369 10-06-2008, 11:03 AM i used it one time at my uncles car lot and it worked really well. | |
