whats a good alarm
im looking for

the best range
pager
loud alarm
microwave sensors
glass sensors
break in senors (lock tampering)

i dont care for

remote start
wireless locks cuz my stock has that

viper 791xv is what i got, works good

i think everyone is gonna say viper. the remote has a vibrating pager that tells you if your alarm has been set off. its got a crazy long range.

also this is an interesting story. at a meet we had, we all tried to set off our alarms at the same time, and my buddy who had a viper system...his remote cancelled out all of our signals and only his went off. i thougt that was cool.

it can vibrate or beep, and the screen lights up red

I have a simple viper alarm now, not sure what model and it works good and has fairly good range. I had a compustar alarm on my old car and it was good for over a half mile, and you could ad any option u wanted to it. Check them out they are pretty sweet. I would have bought another but Im at college now and its further a mile away.

There top of the line one says 6000 feet range... Thats huge. over a mile

i have a clifford alarm, which is the better version of viper but also made by viper

thats kinda why i just got a simple viper alarm, just to deter someone from steeling it. i had the big bad boy alarm and I never really did anything with it.

I would suggest lo-jack and a side of Viper 791xv FTW. *gives you 2 things, one your car gets stolen you got a chance of getting it back, and a nice alarm that can "alarm" you when it gets broken in to. Not to mention that if they cut the speaker wire to your alarm and drag it off, they wont thing to check if you have lo-jack :)

ya my simple viper alarm has been working for 5 yrs now without problem, aside from replacing a wet siren with the bmw one and fixing a broken wire from bad install (thanks CC). Also guys if your remote buttons arent working on the first try, you should open it up and clean the back of the rubber pads and also clean the metal contacts on the board with alcohol. will work like new again. also get a battery change every year.

also if your lights stop flashing when u lock and unlock, check your fuse.... that happened to me. :shock:

imo if you get an alarm you need to get one with a pager so that you know it is going off.... The alarm i have now is actually silent and the pager goes off. So they will not know im coming. It has its up and downs one the guy wont fun and you may not have the pager on you the up side if the pager is on you you can walk up on him. but either way you can turn they alarm sound on or off...
