: Turtle Wax Ice
Picked up a bottle of this, came with a sponge and a microfiber cloth, put one coat on, car looking really good.
Is this stuff alright to use weekly? Does it harm the clearly coat at all?
it won't hurt anything. i use it on my dad's accord all the time
imroadk1ll 04-08-2008, 05:04 PM dam maybe i should buy that since it come with supplies
for one coat it did one hell of a job. Not sure how well it repells water yet.
Aloha Em2 04-08-2008, 05:23 PM shoot it down with a hose! hahaha jk
portaman03 04-12-2008, 04:13 PM Which product from the "Ice" collection are you using? The polish?
A lot of people seem to have the misconception that a polish and a wax are the same thing.
Exterior paint detailing should be done in this order:
Wash
Clay bar
Paint cleaner
Paint polish
Paint wax
Polishes essentially seal in the paint cleaner to "condition" the finish.
On the other hand, the wax is what protects all the work you just did.
Polishes alone won't protect.
As far as the Ice line goes, the only products I like are the liquid and paste polishes, and the spray detailer.
Only for the fact that they are synthetic formulations that dont dry white and last a little longer than other things I've used.
The Ice clay bar is a joke, though. It's not even clay lol.. I think they tried getting away with a chemical that harshly takes off the bonded contaminants in conjunction with their scrubby pad thingy.
THanks for the info portaman, although I knew that what I was using was only a polish, I wasn't sure if I should use it before or after waxing.
What is a good wax to try out?
portaman03 04-12-2008, 10:42 PM Anything with carnuba. I use the Meguires Deep Crystal line.
It's fairly inexpensive and does a great job, and they have the lineup for the full detail procedure.
heyyoitswarren 04-30-2008, 11:42 PM awesome.... i learned alot from this thread!
jdm04 08-14-2008, 11:42 PM all that ice shit is crap. it only lasts for like a month. use meguiars gold class wax. much better and last longer
BluCoupe38 08-15-2008, 01:17 PM Megiuar's Tech Wax FTW!!!
jdm04 08-26-2008, 10:28 AM megiuars is the best.....i stick to the gold class on though
Wngman200 08-26-2008, 12:15 PM Isn't the ice just a quick detailer? But yea, you don't have to worry about stuff like that hurting the clear.
Megiuar's Tech Wax FTW!!!
But yea I agree... tech wax is the shit. I have a small detailing service and I use it on all my customer's cars.
MunRaa 08-31-2008, 01:50 AM interesting.... *.*
dizbstretch 09-28-2008, 01:40 AM Ice is good, just that it doesn't last long as far as durability... Try some meguair's nxt techwax 2.0, that works really good & the smell it has is a plus too...
I used both of those wax & i prefer meguiar over ice...
JerseyStrong 09-30-2008, 10:04 PM x83974 on Ice sucking the durability test.
DDragon7 09-30-2008, 10:47 PM I never used any ICE lines, nor will I ever use them.
elcentrobaby 09-30-2008, 10:58 PM I bough the Nanowax stuff from eagle one. it was pretty expensive but it did turn out nice. don't think though that there is anything too special about it.
SAEbanz311 10-28-2008, 06:26 AM I bough the Nanowax stuff from eagle one. it was pretty expensive but it did turn out nice. don't think though that there is anything too special about it.
that's what i use, i dont see much of a difference though in my shine, im gonna try meguiars soon
2001CivicBrad 10-28-2008, 05:22 PM I usually use Ice after washing my car, I prefer the polish.
OEM-Classy 12-21-2008, 01:20 PM I tried that stuff, not a fan. I like paste wax more
1SickEs1 12-21-2008, 06:21 PM Blue Coral compound cherry wax FTW!!!
thardy26 12-29-2008, 11:34 AM I heard the gold class was better than tech wax? Something about the tech has some sort of chemical trying to replace the carnuba in the wax. I usually use Mothers carnuba cleaner wax
02_civiclx 02-15-2009, 12:52 AM Nice to know all this info.
BIGHERSH87 04-03-2009, 09:14 AM Tech Wax 2.0 is the best!! I recommend to anyone!
