couldn't decide where to put this so i put it here, over spring break i'm planning on painting a new rear bumper from Honda and sanding and repainting my front bumper and sedan grille. was wondering if anyone had done this before and could advise me on how much paint i need to buy to do both.

are you using a gun or just spray cans? if you're using a gun, i think they only sell them by the pint... one pint should be more than enough for the bumpers... you also need some clear. i've painted parts at my buddies shop a few time, and prepping is the most critical... that and practice spraying first! start spraying before you hit the part for a even layer, don't spray too close... if you're going to paint more than one layer wait til the first dries before you lay down the next. if you miss a spot get it the next layer... the sprays should overlap 50/50 for even coating... that's all i can think off now...

the correct answer is about 1 Qt
I did two coats per bumper and also i painted a sedan grille and i had a bit left over(maybe enough to do a set of mirrors 1 coat)

i took some pics of them before clear but i cant find the damn cable to upload them off the camera. when i wake up tomorrow im going to put on the final clear coat then ill take csome more pics after it dries. the painting is easy, the hard part is the prep work.

As for using spray paint. I just used duplicolor rattle can primer and sealer but i spent good money on Dupont Chromabase paint and Clear. it takes some time to learn how to use the gun properly and making adjustments to the gun for proper flow. but its definitely worth it.

well the project all went wrong at the last minute, i put on one coat of clear and it looked ok, my dad said stop, but i thought it would look better with another coat plus i still had half a can of clear and activator. bad things happened, moral of the story: always listen to dad. my front will need to be redone over summer but the rear looks ok and i wasw finally able to install the rear lip i bought from suzy a year ago.

Edit: pictures aren't up because i cant find someone to host the jumbo pics from my moms camera
