pinstripesimroadk1ll 12-25-2007, 12:16 AM i need help on taking out the pinstripes on my civic. im not sure how to peel it out, can someone help me out on this Em2_4life 12-25-2007, 10:57 PM i have never done this so... i would guess amonia would work the best its just like tint spray some windex and see what happens  imroadk1ll 12-25-2007, 11:00 PM do you know someone whose done it b4? civicpraning2k1 12-25-2007, 11:09 PM you need to heat it up... use hairdryer or during summer time when the car gets REALLY hot... i did mines long time ago during the summer. depends on how much u keep up with the car, but you might see a difference under the pinstripes and the car, just like a tan line. fortunately i didn't have that problem. just try to wax it if you have that problem. imroadk1ll 12-25-2007, 11:11 PM oh dam i guess ill have to wait till summer and for sure ill have that tan line my car is under the sun everyday and i dont get to wash it every week. ant206 12-25-2007, 11:44 PM hairdryer then use like rubbing alcohol to clean it up then wash you car with a good dish washing soap like dawn. then wax your car right after. if the rubbing alcohol dont work to well and you can use solvent but dont use to much cuss it will eat your clear coat..but aslong you geta good coat of wax on there then you will be good 03txcivic 12-26-2007, 12:32 AM Once you remove it, claybar the area and make sure to put a good coat of wax. Tim 12-26-2007, 12:38 AM ^^ claybar for sure. get all the leftover crap off prancer 12-26-2007, 02:24 AM bar works. Depending on the year and how long it has been out in the sun, you will have a problem with "scarring" where the stripes were, in the right light. I did mine in the summer. Basically like they said, you just need the area hot, then just slowly peel it off. After i got one side done, i took bug/tar remover to the grime and adhesive left over. Then i took oxidation remover and went over it. After words, i washed the car again, and gave it a good wax. The car turned out good, but you can still see the pinstripes if you take a good light next too it, and look down the body of the car closely. Not enough to bug me. It took me about 2 hours to do both sides when it was all said and done. About 3.5 hours if you count the peeling process all the way up to the last bit of wax being wiped off. Good luck, i deffinatly love the way my car looks without them! imroadk1ll 12-26-2007, 07:12 AM ok thanks a lot guys i will remember to go back on this thread during summer. that is the set time i will take the stripes out civicpraning2k1 12-26-2007, 07:24 AM it doesn't have to be summer... you live in hawaii/california, 808? don't know much about weather there, but yall don't have winter right? if so, then just get a fukkin blowdryer and heat the shit out of that pinstripe. once heated, it would be just like removing a sticker. imroadk1ll 12-26-2007, 07:39 AM im on the little islands its been raining too much and ive been working afternoon till night i cant do it morning cuz somehow its cold and that worst part is i got no garage i have to wait to go to my other friends garage to do this immortalcyborg 01-20-2008, 10:27 AM Do It, Do It!!!! imroadk1ll 01-22-2008, 12:51 PM ^^not yet!!! and im too busy looking for an integra right now | |
